10 LAWS FOR SELF ACCOUNTABILITY
68
As anyone knows, as a society of many kinds of people, we occasionally need laws to guide us and keep the peace. For every race, creed, nationality or religion, we need rules to keep ourselves accountable. Some rules get outdated and need revision. Some stand the test of time and are effective throughout the changes of society. Fact is, we need certain rules for life. The rules that I am going to bring up, in a different light, are the 10 Commandments and how they are meant to give each individual and group of individuals self accountability. They were not meant for just those who believe in a God or in a Religion but for every single being.
Now before you scream at me that these aren't true I want you to read this quote:
"All Truth passes through three stages. First it is ridiculed, second it is violently opposed and third, it is accepted as self-evident."
- Arthur Schopenhauer German Philosopher, 1788-1860
Then I want you to open your mind and let out whatever your Bible Study Instructor or clergy told you. God and Ego are NOT THE SAME THINGS Sit back and really think about these and how they affect your life. These really are just about YOU and the life you make. If you were not here it wouldn't matter because without you there would be no world. A good movie to watch about this is "It's A Wonderful Life". George wished he was never born and he got that wish. He went out to all the places and people that he knew when he had a life and they did not know him and life went on as if he never existed. So it is with all our lives.
Written in Stone
The 10 commandments were given to Moses to give to the people. They were written on stone tablets. It is my opinion that "written in stone" means to stand the test of time. Jesus also mentions about the laws set in the hearts and minds of men (mankind). We all know them even if we aren't religious. These laws I will discuss one at a time. Though there are many other laws that Jesus set for us, such as What You sow you shall reap, Love Your Neighbor as yourself, and Do unto others as you would have them to to you. The 10 commandments are for our everyday lives and they never change.
Those 10 commandments have been slightly changed for different religious sects, but they all point to the same thing, self accountability. They are meant and are effective to all people's weather they be religious or not, live in mansions or huts, have power over the people or live in impoverished places.
1st Commandment
According to Jesus he said the we Are God. The three places that this is mentioned in the Bible are:
Psalm 82:5-7
Young's Literal Translation (YLT)
5They knew not, nor do they understand, In darkness they walk habitually, Moved are all the foundations of earth.
6I -- I have said, `Gods ye [are], And sons of the Most High -- all of you,
7But as man ye die, and as one of the heads ye fall,
Isaiah 41:22-24
Young's Literal Translation (YLT)
22They bring nigh, and declare to us that which doth happen, The first things -- what they [are] declare ye, And we set our heart, and know their latter end, Or the coming things cause us to hear.
23Declare the things that are coming hereafter, And we know that ye [are] gods, Yea, ye may do good or do evil, And we look around and see [it] together.
24Lo, ye [are] of nothing, and your work of nought, An abomination -- it fixeth on you.
John 10:33-35
Young's Literal Translation (YLT)
33The Jews answered him, saying, `For a good work we do not stone thee, but for evil speaking, and because thou, being a man, dost make thyself God.'
34Jesus answered them, `Is it not having been written in your law: I said, ye are gods?
35if them he did call gods unto whom the word of God came, (and the Writing is not able to be broken,)
Now when the God of Moses gave the First Commandment and it is read as "Thou Shalt Have No Other Gods Before these, it is plain to see, at least to me, that as Gods ourselves we should not put anyone else before ourselves.
How many times have we done this in an attempt to please others and end up getting hurt by them. If we give too much of ourselves away we lose ourselves. Don't have any other God's (people) before thee (you).
Being God does NOT give anyone permission to rule and control others. It only gives the individual permission to know and take responsibility for their own thoughts and actions. Serving others is what I AM and the GOD is because like I already stated if you weren't here there would be no need for serving others and vice versa.
2nd Commandment
Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that isin the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; And showing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
Strange that this is not the 2nd Commandment in the Catholic Version of the Laws of Life.
When you make images of those you hold high or worship what happens to those people? For one it keeps them from moving on and it also does the same for you. We simply cannot stay in the same place as if we and they are frozen in time. We change and they change so we must allow for this change so we can continue to grow.
I don't believe for a moment that Jesus wanted us to remember the way that he died. I think he wants us to remember his constant love and fostering our growth in the way that he lived. He can't help us if he is constantly frozen in time and remembered by his end. No Graven Images ... to allow us to move on.
3rd Commandment
Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain: for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
Does this really mean no cussing or using swear words? If it does how does God distinguish between the many languages, dialects and slang uses. He can only know if we ourselves are the judge in our language.
Vain doesn't mean cursing and such. It means to be pompous and arrogant. How do you use your God within? Is it arrogant, if so that is using his name in Vain.
4th Commandment
Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labor, and do all thy work: But the seventh day isthe sabbath of the Lord thy God: in itthou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that iswithin thy gates: For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
No where does this say a certain day of the week nor that everyone has to observe the same day as everyone else.
If we work hard every single day we get sick. This rule of life is for our own lives so that we can enjoy the life we create. The body needs a day of rest for it to function properly.
5th Commandment
Honor thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.
They created you by an agreement for you to create a life and setting up a place you can grow and learn for yourself. The universe is not dual but the things we create are or were. Some things have been on in the same such as lower forms of life, but as we have been learning and seeing there are many other forms of life all the way up to humans that embody one and not dual. Of course many of us are not ready for this and as the quote I used above we will fight the change vehemently.
6th Commandment
Thou shalt not kill, it says in the King James version. In the Young's Literal translation, before King James changes it says murder.
To kill is not the same as to murder. The American Indians asked the animal if they could kill it if they revered it as holy. They did also use every part of it and displayed that animal proudly with honor given to it.
We don't do this in today's society. We Murder, which is not getting permission from anything nor honoring it's purpose for humans. We teach that killing is a sport. We murder animals for the sake of putting it on our mantels, such as sport hunting. Look at what we are teaching our children on all those games and TV. They are desensitized to the harm it does to them and others. To kill something or someone is to kill oneself.
When someone commit suicide it also kills the lesson we were in. Then we have to come back until it is learned and that changes others agreement to accommodate the re-learning. Jesus talked about this and I wrote a hub on it What Jesus Tells Us Reincarnation is..
7th Commandment
You shall not commit adultery.
Adultery has vary different meaning to it and the meaning in Moses time was very different than what we have in our time. A very good and thorough explanation is given on Adultery In The Bible.
His references were taken out of the Bible and Adultery is only a Man's Sin and not a Woman's Sin. Adultery is only when a man has intimate relations with another *married* woman or one that is *promised* to another man. Nothing is adulterous if he has intimate relations with a wome who is single.
This also goes for the woman. I am taking this a a property investment deal. Not that women and men are tangible property and can be treated as such, but more like a promise. When an agreement is met that two shall become one, if you take the other half away in mind and spirit you are ripping that agreement up.
Now think of this from the *we are gods* standpoint ............ What Jesus says about Love thy neighbor as thyself and what you sow you shall reap. What will you reap in creating that? It may happen to you at a latter point in time and not necessarily as in Adultery in a marriage type situation. It could happen with any type of relationship were there is a binding agreement.
8th Commandment
You shall not steal.
To steal is to take from another being without it's permission. Be careful with this law because what you take without permission while also be taken from you. All the commandments work like an algebraic system. What happens on one side also has to happen on the other side or as Jesus states, What you sow you shall reap. It all hinges on you. That is why he also said to be careful with your thoughts. Putting emphasis on particular thoughts will bring a situation into being so that you can experience that thought. This is also known as The Law of Attraction
9th Commandment
Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor.
Do Unto Others As You Would Have Them Do To You. Many take this lightly without really comprehending what it really means to them and in their lives. These laws are not only for those who believe in a God but for everyone because everyone is a god.
Take a religious person who has gone to the same church since they were babies. Now what does that church tell that person to do? It teaches them to go out and spread the Gospel. They don't tell the person that there will be repercussions in doing this. They also do not teach the whole of what Jesus says in that Book either. Jesus told us, in that Bible that we were only to spread his words and work, nothing about pounding it into others heads or converting them or even killing (and I mean physical, spiritual or emotional) them for the sake of Jesus. When you tell lies, half-truths, gossip about your neighbor, friend, or family it will come back to you. For further reading and Understanding I alo wrote about Bearing False Witness
10th Commandment
Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbor's.
I believe this is about Jealousy. Why should you not be jealous of what others have? Will wanting the same things they have bring those things to you? It comes right back to you. They created those thing for themselves and they had to go through situations and agreements to get them Most don't even realize what it took for them to get that item.
In the version before King James it states that God is a ZEALOUS God and in the King James it states that god is a JEALOUS god. Two completely different meanings. God as an outside source did not create what you have. Be thankful for what you have created. Remember, If you were never born in a physical body no one would have anything that you could experience because you would not exist for you to create.

1`And God speaketh all these words, saying,
2I [am] Jehovah thy God, who hath brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of a house of servants.
3`Thou hast no other Gods before Me.
4`Thou dost not make to thyself a graven image, or any likeness which [is] in the heavens above, or which [is] in the earth beneath, or which [is] in the waters under the earth.
5Thou dost not bow thyself to them, nor serve them: for I, Jehovah thy God, [am] a zealous God, charging iniquity of fathers on sons, on the third [generation], and on the fourth, of those hating Me,
6and doing kindness to thousands, of those loving Me and keeping My commands.
7`Thou dost not take up the name of Jehovah thy God for a vain thing, for Jehovah acquitteth not him who taketh up His name for a vain thing.
8`Remember the Sabbath-day to sanctify it;
9six days thou dost labour, and hast done all thy work,
10and the seventh day [is] a Sabbath to Jehovah thy God; thou dost not do any work, thou, and thy son, and thy daughter, thy man-servant, and thy handmaid, and thy cattle, and thy sojourner who is within thy gates, --
11for six days hath Jehovah made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that [is] in them, and resteth in the seventh day; therefore hath Jehovah blessed the Sabbath-day, and doth sanctify it.
12`Honour thy father and thy mother, so that thy days are prolonged on the ground which Jehovah thy God is giving to thee.
13`Thou dost not murder.
14`Thou dost not commit adultery.
15`Thou dost not steal.
16`Thou dost not answer against thy neighbour a false testimony.
17`Thou dost not desire the house of thy neighbour, thou dost not desire the wife of thy neighbour, or his man-servant, or his handmaid, or his ox, or his ass, or anything which [is] thy neighbour's.'

In Conclusion
If you have read all this and call it Blasphemy. I will tell you that it is not. For clarification here is the definition from the Biblical Standpoint:
Blasphemy (Greek blaptein, "to injure", and pheme, "reputation") signifies etymologically gross irreverence towards any person or thing worthy of exalted esteem. In this broad sense the term is used by Bacon when in his "Advancement of Learning" he speaks of "blasphemy against learning". St. Paul tells of being blasphemed (1 Corinthians 4:13) and the Latin Vulgate employs the word blasphemare to designate abusive language directed either against a people at large (2 Samuel 21:21; 1 Chronicles 20:7) or against individuals(1 Corinthians 10:30; Titus 3:2). For the complete definitions please visit: NewAdvent.Org
I do not disgrace the God Within which Jesus teaches us. So if you still want to call it Blasphemy here then you must also call Jesus a Blasphemer. Whatever your clergy tells you and what you have learned in church while growing up is only 1/4 of the story. Blasphemy simply is that which the church or religion does not want you to know. You will not go to hell if you take responsibility for you own thoughts and actions. Jesus constantly teaches self accountability in the Bible. Religion is always teaching you to rely on something else besides yourself. In fact I saw something someone posted on Face Book the other day. He stated that your yesterday does not make your tomorrow or something like that. That is Not True. What you thought 1 year ago makes what happens today and tomorrow and today's thoughts will make up your future. You are only responsible for you. Jesus says that many times and in many ways in the Bible and in his own teachings that have been banned from that Bible you read today.
Everything is for and by God--the God who you are within and The Kingdom of God is what you create in your kingdom. Nothing is outside of that Kingdom ......... absolutely nothing, no Angels, No Satan or Evil. You are not a puppet or Pawn in a huge game and you certainly aren't being used for good or evil. It's all about YOU (God) That is why you will never see a God or a Satan and others will never see your interpretations of them either because it is YOU that Create what you world is like. Look in the Mirror if you really want to see God and who creates YOUR world. This has nothing to do with religious because every being has those same Laws Of Accountability for their thoughts and actions and what comes back to them and what situations you create for yourself.
If you come from this and say that you love your God and the Lord and he guides you and you can talk to him, you have missed the point of this hub entirely.

This is incredible and definitely thought provoking. I'm going to bookmark this. I have to agree with Deborah Brooks, this truly is awesome.
Yes, we are accountable and we must take responsibility for our decisions. God gave me the map for my journey, but I must navigate appropriately. I can always stop to ask the Lord for directions and then thank him for getting me back on track. Where I drove 'yesterday' is still important. It might help me get to where I need to be 'tomorrow'.
Thank you for sharing, Marisa/MissOlive
Well of course no one CAN follow the ten commandments, and so far as my understanding goes - it's purpose was to provide a "mirror" to the people, so that they could see that they could not be perfect - which paved the way for the next phase...which of course, was crucified.
Great hub about what we should all strive to live by! Although no one is perfect, those who try to live by this seem to live more prosperous lives! Great hub, hope you enjoy mine as well!
I'm noticeing more and more the Ten Commandments are often taken as "The Ten Suggestions" -- we're living in a strange time indeed! Loved this Hub and voted up! Best, Sis
Love this hub. A nice content. voted up.
Debbie, this one is really....
You see, I do agree that we have a part of God living inside each one of us but it don't made us into God. We are part of God because we are His creation. But we are nothing, compared to Him.
Being open minded is different with being said, "I'm God." and I can't believe our friends just agree with this. Blasphemy or not, according to you, in my opinion, you are going too far. Please be careful.
I hope you well, my friend.

Lady G: Truly the Commandments from 5 to 10 are clearly laws for all society, BUT, 1 thru 4 pertain purely to God and how he is to be viewed and loved and obeyed.
There is a gigantic difference between being a
true "Born Again Christian" and following some religion.
Without God, there would definitely be nothing. I am but God's servant.
