Essence of Written Letters Of Affection

Rememberances Of Times Past
Do you remember how you used to get handwritten letters from friends, family or lovers?
Did they ever put a bit of their perfume or cologne on the paper for you to smell as you read the words they took the time to write to you?
Remember the memories it brought back to you as you read them?
Did you also touch and caress the letters on the page to get a feeling of their essence as they wrote those words on the paper?
New is not always better. You can write lots of letters and correspondences through e-mail and the internet and on text messages. These are all good but not if you want to be able to hold onto a person's essence and love that they put forth to write a handwritten letter.
Electronic letters don't allow you to smell a person's frangrance and it will not be able to bring those kinds of memories to you to cherish forever.
Here are a few things to get you started.

Your Hub brought back some found memories...when I was a child, my great-grandmother used to dictate while I wrote letters for her to her children. Back then, it was 5 cents to mail a letter.
I like this hub, really nice. I still write hand written letters to my grandmother, she wouldn't have it any other way. She says that e-mail is just not a personable as a hand written letter and I agree with her. Good job, Great Hub!
Actually some of my relatives in remote parts of the world where other communications aren't available only a hand written letter/greeting card is the option left. Internet is still not as prevalent in all parts of the world. But slowly maybe in a few years people may forget writing if they are typing so much. Thumbs up for a great hub.
You are so rigth. Years ago I used to right lots of letters to friends and family. I have lovely letters written by my grandmother and a box with letters from my husband (we were penpals!). E mail is quick but it is so impersonal...
I still write letters. Adds human touch to any form of communication...
I possess so many fountain pens, cartridge pens, quills (honest), nibs, rollerballs, ballpoints, and pencils that I could open a store. My favorite thing to do is go into Staples and droooool over the paper and pens and envelopes, always has been. Good paper that you can write on with ink, and it doesn't soak through. Italian paper! Japanese paper! English paper with the cool watermarks! Ah! Guilty pleasures! It's almost as good as chocolate. . . .
Lovely hub,Lady G..also, how we used to look down the road to watch for the postman! Our hearts always missed a beat, when the postman stopped by at our house!:) You brought back memories,yes..you are right..nothing like the personal touch of a handwritten letter! Thanks for sharing!:)
I like this hub. excellent wrting
Very well done, it would be a shame to let such a great art form go to waste. I write to a few family members quite often, and find it good practice too keeping it going. Thanks for sharing this info. it adds much needed advise to my writing. Voted up, and bookmarked.
