Songs That Teach Kids Morals
66Rock and Roll Bands have gotten a bad rap over the years by many Christian Fundies. If they actuall sat and listen to the words of some of them they would find out that they aren't all that bad. Some of them sing some pretty good songs about promiscuity and the prevention of sex before marraige. I have added a few band and the lyrics to them as wel so that we all can hear the worrds and read for ourselves what message they are giving the kids of yesterday and tomorrow. I like them all. As I find more and as people tell me about some more I will be adding them to this hub.

Loves To Read. I do have the Meatloaf song and you didn't read the lyrics or you would KNOW that it does NOT promote immoral Sexual behavior.
A synopsis of the song/story is that the boy wants sex, but the girl does not and wants to wait until marriage and he gets upset, but the point that she wants to wait still stands in the end. Perhaps you should read the lyrics again.
Lady G. I do indeed know the lyrics to this song very well. Yes the girl does want some sort of commitment before anything happens. When he cannot control his desire any longer he starts promising her his undying love to get his own way. After which he realizes he is now stuck with her and is praying for the end of time so he will be free of her.

Loves To Read, and that is my exact point. Girls stick to your guns and don't let no man take you ---and that was the message of the song. No where does it teach immorality, unless you prejudge things before you know the true meaning of them. I am not accusing you of doing this but it had appeared that you did this. So do many, many others.

Keep Your Hands To Yourself has always been one of my all time favorites and anything Johnny does is fine by me, although I really wouldn't classify Johnny Cash as a Rock and Roll Band if you want to get technical. I seem to remember U-2 being a pretty good band as far as moral character is concerned. They've been around a long time, too. Good hub - I enjoyed it.

I actually love Johnny Cash, ever since I saw the movie "Walk the Line" I'm 35 but I loooove all the old stuff. The movie "Ray" was good too. I love Everlasting Love too and Keep your hands to yourself, some of these I never thought of as good songs according to morals, but you're right and
@Ann1Az2, I think U2 is good also, It confuses me though how alot of their songs are about God, but they still have their vices or at least you know sexxxxx symbols but I think you can be both, after all we gotta have "some" fun I guess.

Most of the performers have to get an act together for the public, they don't necessarly agree with their stage performance verses their private lives. U2 should certainly be on this list, IMO. So many of their songs allude to their well-documented christianity. U2 have inspired audiences for over 30 years, not through drugs or scandal, instead by trying to showcasing through many of their songs the benefit that faith can have in your life.

My Grandmother loves christian radio. I introduced her to some of my favorite christian rap artists a few months ago and she can't get enough of it! I swear.. Even Grandma's can get into rap if the message is right...

Christian Rap is not "Rock" music and Rap is awful in my opinion--not music at all. Anyone can get up and talk fast like that.

Lady G,as a lover of Johnny Cash and his music i really enjoyed the video of Walk The Line. I had never heard the Everlasting Love song or the Keep Your Hands To Yourself so thank you for sharing. However as a long time fan of Meat Loaf and his songs when i was younger. I have to say that this song, from a Christian perspective is highly provocative in it's lyrics and there is no mistake in what is being implied. If you ever saw a performance on stage then you would know that it was definately promoting immoral sexual behaviour. They say that actions speak louder than words.
