This was taken on July 15, 2010. It's the worst that my Rosacea has ever been.

Rosacea! It is a horrible condition. Some have had good results from drug treatments and some, like me, have not. So I am on a journey to find out what will work. My results will be results only for me as with Rosacea it affects people differently and my regimen may not work for someone else. Keep this in mind. For me, I have to go to my own body and seek answers by trial and error. Oh, I have been on the Accutane treatments twice, taken all the anti-biotics and tried many creams, oils and salves to only have a short recovery period. Accutane is now on the dangerous drug list. It is reported to cause a myriad of intestinal diseases. I had my intestinal diseases before I even took the Accutane treatments. Each treatment would give me a blissful 18-24 months of no signs of Rosacea. It was a shocker to my Dermatologist and me that when the drugs appears to wear off the Rosacea came back with a vengeance. Two treatments is all they will permit because it messes with your liver and it functioning in the body. After that I was put on all kinds of anti-biotics only to find that my body became resistant to the drugs just after 2 weeks of their use. It is horrible to know that this skin disease will be with me the rest of my life.

At first we thought that it was hormones because this Rosacea showed up after the birth of my first child. They did hormone checks on me and nothing showed up out of the ordinary. That solution was out. The condition runs in Celtic, including Welsh, Irish and Scottish backgrounds.

I have even changed my diet and yet no good results from that either. I logged the journey called Listening To My Soul and there are 6 parts in the series.

I already tried the Avon Anew Reversalist trial samples and as the product did as it stated, it did NOT do a thing for my Rosacea.

Avon's Clearskin Cleanser

On my other hub in the comments someone had mentioned that she tried this and it dried her skin out.

I got the same results, BUT I played with the cleansing a bit.

The first day that I used it was great. The next morning my face was peeling because of the dry skin (I think it was dry skin). It could have been old skin peeling off. I also used an OTC Rosacea Cream on my face after drying my face. It could have also been the facial cream that was dried, but I doubt that.

I didn't wash my face with the cleanser or anything else for a day. This is not unusual for me because anything tends to irritate my face--even when I touch it it will turn a bright red for about 15 minutes. I usually just splash water on my face.

So far it has been 4 days and I have only used the cleanser twice. What I am noticing is the acne is diminishing and so is the redness. I am thinking that I could use this product by only nce every two days or once a week and use nothing the rest of the times. We shall see with tomorrow morning since I just used it today.

I will post pictures once a week for this.

Morning After

Well my face is not as dry and it isn't peeling like it did the first wash with the Avon Clearskin. This is a good sign. I just don't use it every day. It seems to me that it is a good cleanser to use of Rosacea about every other day or every third day. I will post a picture tomorrow, when the weather cooperates a bit more. It is a very hot day today and my face is red because of the heat--and I have even gone outside yet! We have a small A/C and when it gets really hot outside it only cools it down in here about 15 degrees. It is 100 degrees outside.

Following Days

I don't know why this hub is so hard to come together.  My photographer has been AWOL and my laptop got a virus on it.  Got that off but now I can't get connected to the internet so have to use this sloooow computer.  My photographer has been working all kinds of hours and when he gets home I just let him sleep.  That's more important to me then him taking a picture of my horrible face.

Anyway I can tell yopu that these dreams of possibly having a clearskin complexion , like I did in Highschool, are only pipe dreams.

Although my face it cleaner than it was before using the Clearskin solution, it still has not lessened the redness.  I even use the OTC Rosacea Creams which do help a little but not as much I would like.

So life goes on,.., just as it always has...or until there is a cure.............and I will not be holding my breath for this one anytime soon.

I can totally relate, thanks for being so brave! I am of Scottish, Irish descent and I am in my early 60's. I only just in the last 6 months have suffered with it but the Oracea and the cream really helped. I still however get very red cheeked when I am out in the summer heat. Great Hub!

Judicastro. I am in my early 50's and I have had this since I was 21. I cannot afford the Oracea and it is just a close comparison to the Tetracycline that I had taken before that my body build up an immunity too. My body just doesn't want to cooperate.

I couldn't afford it either, but with the trial that the dr. Gave me was a card from the company and I will never have to pay more than $25. I pray that what you are doing will be the answer for you!! Bless you!

I don't have health insurance so I couldn't go to a dr. anyway. I hope that this works too.

Just curious if you've tried laser treatments. I have had terrible rosacea like yours, and the laser treatments really keep it at bay. But I have to get them regularly - every 3 months or so or it comes back. But some areas, like my cheeks, seem to have been permanently healed. But my nose is a major area for me still. A second laser treatment even helps smooth out the bumps and scarring I've gotten over the years. If you'd like, I'll get more details what the exact treatment is called. Anyone else try lasers? It's pretty new technology.
