Go Fly Your Kite into the Heavans

I don't know anyone who doesn't like flying a kite. It is something that every member and age of the family can do. Even 5 year olds can make a Kite. There are easy ways to make a Kite. Here is a link to go to and learn how to make a simple Diamond Kite (for those of you who still have Dial Up): http://www.my-best-kite.com/how-to-make-a-diamond-kite.html. and there is a video on the right for those of you who have faster Internet access.

Making and flying Kites are known in all countries all over the world. They are simple to very elaborate. With the right instructions you will be able to make the very colorful and elaborate designs that other cultures around the world make and fly.

Benjamin Franklin flew a kite in the United States to gain knowledge of how the electricity of lightening transferred. He found out when it hit his kite and followed the string that he was holding into his hand and it gave him a shock!

Most people just like the freedom they experience while they watch the wind take their kite and make it dance in the sky. Some like to have some control over how the kite dances. Some fliers get very competitive with this.

April is National Kite Flying Month here in the US. They have events all over the states. It is a great way to usher in Spring. Make a Kite today and make it a family event. Make your kite with many colors like the colors of the flowers . Send your flower kite into the heavens for all to see.

Have a Kite Making and Flying Event in your own neighborhood or town. Enjoy the day as a picnic or family reunionnor a children's olaydte ofr Mom's Day Out. Bring Singels together nd see wht kinds of frinendships grow and soar with their kites. .Arrange constest by age groups or by level of difficulty in making a kite. You can do so much with this.

While the finanical market is flying low, you can have some semblance of control by making and flying your very own Kite. Get it up there in the atmosphere and let it soar high into the heavens. Send your problems up there with it and let them fly away in the wind. What better way to have fun and make friendship then to do something that costs very little or nothing at all! You can use anything from old garbage bags, plastic or paper shopping bags or newspaper, some string, and other things that you already have laying around the house. Make the tail out of anything you have. Have fun and be crative. The Sky is the limit!

Spring is much more than flowers and Easter Bunnies, eggs and baskets. It is the beginning of new life and new things. Go Fly a Kite! Find a Kite Festival near you or make your own estival or vent in your neighborhood. Who could pass up some Free fun in the sun!

Brings me back to my youth when my Dad made the kites and we were all so excited to get them up in the air. Fun hub!

Fancy that, I didn't know there was a "National Kite Flying Month". Flying a kite it is certainly a very entertaining thing to do, my children love it, they can spend hours trying to get their kite up an flying -we are at the learning stage and it is me teaching them so we are taking rather long, sometimes I think they would do better without me LOL.

For us flying a kite it is unexpensive entertainment and a good exercise :)

Thank you for stopping by and commenting on my hub. I think there is a link on the hub that will teach you how to fly a kite and get it up in the air. I will see if I can find that again and post it here in the comments.

I love this hub! Flying a kite is full of fun for the whole family and really won't cost much. Thanks for reminding me! I can take the kids to the kite festival at the Smithsonian...easy for me by metro!! They will be thrilled.

I enjoyed to link to Mary Poppins...been awhile since I've seen it. Mary Poppins always makes me smile :)

I see! Thanks, it might seem obvious, but I am new to kites, it was step 4-5 that we were doing wrong!

Princessa, the learning is the fun part! hope that you have lots of fun!!

K@ri, Yes that would be a great idea! I never knew they had one of those in the Smithsonian. I live too far away now to go there. Take pictures and send them to me if you can--or better yet make a hub out of it.

Read this earlier but didn't have time to comment. It is a nice hub and I didn;t know about a kite flying month. Nice info.

I also tried to reply to your comment on my hub and it got lost in cyberspace. I have been ahving troubles with the site for a couple days now. I'll get it when I can get it to work.

No problem Sir Dent. I think I know what you are going to say anyway. SSDD

I have had problems with Hubpages too the last few days. Things dissappearing and very slow page loads. On your Spring Hub, I cannot do anything with it. Sometimes it comes up as I have to correct MY hub, when I didnot write it at all. Weird! Then other times it doesn't show up at all and then some times it shows up as this page has been delete by author.

Thanks for commenting on my hub here though. Now you and your son can Go Fly A Kitwe!! Have fun doing it too--send to the heavens!

Kite flying has officially started in the Philippines but it's summer. Late afternoons, when the wind is at its gustiest, you'll see kids on rooftops flying their kites. I specially like the sight of kites silhouetted against the blue sky. So peaceful. Thanks for sharing this :D

I have only flown a kite once, when I was under six years of age. Probably with the help of my brother we got it flying. However, the big kids, including my brother, decided it would be fun to throw rocks at it. My brother bought me another kite but it just wasn't the same.

dahoglund, That is sad. Well you should try it again and show the other children around your area how to do that same.

Wow the last two days you could fly a kite here and have it ripped right out of your hands! It has been really windy in the Mid-Atlantic states.

Great Hub. I really like the idea of making kites with your kids. Doing those type of activities are really important to bond with your kids, and it's fun too.
