Testing Avon Anew Reversalist Emulsion for Rosacea
As a continued journey to find something besides drugs that may help those of us who have a dreaded and embarrassing condition called Rosacea, I am testing Avon's Skin Care Products. Yes I am being the guinea pig for their products. I know it will not cure this condition, but perhaps it may lessen the looks or effects.
I have had this condition for the last 32 years. I had someone take this picture of me this morning, just after I applied the ANEW Reversalist product.
After she took the picture with my camera and I saw it, I wanted to cry. This condition is so embarrassing and I want to put a bag over my head. It is painful at times and very itchy at times. I have been on two treatments of Accutane and they were short lived in their attempt to right my body. I have been on all kinds of anti-biotics to no avail and used various creams, ointments and salves, to no avail.
Now, with nothing to lose I am going to try all of Avon's Emulsions and other Skin Care products to see which one will work for me. Others may try this too. Just ask your Avon Representative if they can get a 2 week trial size of the Emulsions for you and shae you experiences with the rest of us. Or you can order from My Avon Website.
Avon Reversalist
This brand of skin care product visibly reverses wrinkles with Avon's Activinol Technology. The Activin Booster in this formula reactivates the skins repair process. It uses a Sterling PolyPeptide Complex to help replenish the skins moisture and helps bring back the skins youthful structure. The daytime treatment helps protect skin from the UVA/UVB rays from the sun. It has a SPF of 25 and should make the skin look and feel renewed all day. It is for skin that looks or feels the age of 40+.
Day 1: the skin should feel soft and smooth.
Day 5: fine lines and wrinkles should begin to diminish by 89 percent
Day 10: your skin should feel and look much firmer then before you started using this product.
Two weeks and beyond any skin discoloration should improve by up to 25 percent. Continued use will dramatically reduce the look of wrinkles and discolorations and produce a firmer skin texture.

Day 1
My Results Using Avon Reversalist
The reason why I chose this product first was to firm my skin. I also wanted to see if it would truly revers some of my skins signs of aging. It was also the first one that I took out of the box,
Day 1: I didn't see much of a difference. I felt a difference. My skin was a lot less itchy and it felt like I had a nice moisturizer on it. It also didn't burn my eyes. I am thinking this is a good start.
I found that you really didn't need a lot of it put on your face. Just a small dab on the forehead, nose, each cheek and on the chin. Then just rub it in.
Usually after I rub anything on my face, my face turns a bright red and it takes about a half hour to calm down. I have found along with Rosacea that my facial skin is also very sensitive to whatever I do or put on it.
I can't wear makeup. Well I can, but it really isn't worth the week of pain and cysts that I get after removing it. I use makeup very sparingly and only on very special occasions. Like I said before, I really hate going out in public and would like to put a bag over my head. If it weren't for the cabin-fever thing I would stay at my house all the time.
Day 2
Day 2
This was the best picture my husband could take. I believe I do see a bit of a difference here. I don't look so red and the itching has not come back with this. All this is very good!
I am wondering what this would do if I combine the Rosacea Cream with this Avon Reversalist. The Rosacea Cream is 50% aloe Vera and it is green in color to tone down the red in the face. I will try that after giving this the 2 full weeks like directed. We shall see.
Day 3
Day 3 with this regimen and things are still feeling pretty good. I am sorry this is coming through on Day 4, but I will get another picture for that tonight. We had a busy day yesterday and I didn't get the chance to upload my picture.
At any rate, when I looked at the picture on my camera viewer I seem to have looked awfully red, but looking at my picture here it doesn't look like that. Perhaps it is becasue my camer is bright pink,
I am noticing something growing under my skin on the right side. Oh you can see it in the pictures, but notheless I can feel a cyst forming. It may also be due to the heat. The heat exasperates the rosacea too. If it does happen to become a cyst you will see it in a few days. This is the very reason why I shy away from makeup. It's just so frustrating!
My eyes always look and feel so swelled. I may try another product with this in a couple of weeks when I can order it and see if that helps. The product also feels like it is being absorbed more than just sitting on my face.
Day 4
Day 4
I am looking at something that I am having some doubt as to weather this is the right solution to my problem. My undereyes are a lot more puffy then they have been. Now I am not ruling this product out just yet. This may be just because the product is tightening the cheek area. I have also noticed that my crow's feet are almost gone. This is one of the thigs this product says it would do. We shall see in the days to come.
Day 5
Day 5
I didn't notice a whole lot of difference this day, only that my the swelling in my cheeks is dimishing. Thinking about all this I believe that this is working for the swelling and crowsfeet, but not so much with the redness. So after this regimen I will try the formula that may be right for my age and that is the Ultimate. I do need to finish this off first so that others may know what kinds of things to expect with their Rosacea or redness.
Heads up: I will be dying my hair a slightly darker shade tomorrow and will look different than this after Thursday. I don't want you to think it is a different person when I take the next picture.
Day 6 Halfway there
Day 6 Halfway There!
I had my husband take side views. The itching has come back and so I am finding myself picking again. Old habits are hard to break. Now, when I tell people that I can't see and have problems with my eyes, you can see why. They were bothering me all day today. I don't know what sets them off. The only thing that I can think of is allergies and I have them all the time now--even in my A/C house. They do get much worse when I go outside in the morning to feed the cats. I would say that I am allergic to cats, only I have had cats all my life. I do know that when my dog sleeps on my pillow when I am not there and I sleep on that same pillow, the next morning my eyes are very swollen. I have tried to curb this by putting my pillows under a blanket and taking that off before I go to bed at night. It's in the dirt and in the air here. This is driving me crazy!!!! That's not my Rosacea though.
I do hope that something works and I find it before I die! With the next AVON order I will see what kind of product I can get for these swollen eyes of mine.
Believe this or not, but while growing up I didn't have blemishes and my face was soft and cear all the time. I think that I was cursed after having my first child because that is when I started having all the health problems that I still have--Ulcerative Colitis and this Rosacea. The doctor's thought is was hormone related but they took all those tests and nothing out of the ordinary came up. Who knows what the sins of the father has done to me! How far back did it go and who had the first case and why I may never know. All I know is that this is Celtic related as in most people who have Rosacea have Irish, Scottish and or WELSH in their ancestry. Why us and what happened and trying to find the root cause so that a cure can be found or something.
Day 7
Day 7
Not much difference in my Rosacea, but the hair color did a world of good toning it down a bit. The next product that I will definatley use is not the Ultimate, but the AVON CLEARSKIN Skin Care Line. It is most like the Pro Active skin care products and a bit less expensive too.
Day 8
There is no picture with this as I didn't have anyone here that could take a picture of me. Nothing has really changed in my redness, but the Reversalist is doing as it claims and my crows feet at almost gone.
Now I am taking the advice from another person who said that they used Organic Honey to wash their face with that then afterwards massaged Virgin Olive Oil into their skin and wiped the excess off. I had the honey but not the Olive Oil. I don't need to add more oil to my skin anyway.
The honey does have a grainy texture, which I didn't expect. I rubbed it all over my face and let it stay there for a few minutes and then rubbed it all over again. I also rubbed it all over my hands and lower arms for an added measure. I only used a teaspoon and it was too much so I put the rest of it in my bath water with me.
When I got out and dryed off I did put the Reverslist on my face. I am just adding this Honey as my Pre-cleanser as I didn't really use anything else but water and a washcloth before.
I can tell you that my eyes feel less swollen already today. I was able to see clearly too after I got out of bed and started my daily routine of feeding the outdoor cats, letting the dog out, getting my coffee and sitting down at the computer.
We shall see later today when I do actually get a picture taken if is is helping or not.
Day 9
Day 9
This was taken outside in 100 degree weather so I am red mostly because of the heat. Heat aggravates my Rosacea.
My eyes are even less swollen today--er last night when this picuture was taken. I don't want to use Olive Oil because my facial skin is oily enough without adding more to it. If I can get some real olives and mash them, I would like to try that on my face as well. The pustules are not there and the scabs, that I constantly pick at, are going away. I contribute this to the honey and not the Reversalist.
Those who are saying things about chemicals--everything is a chemical in one way or another. This stuff about chemicals being bad or good is up to individual interpretation. I got this information from Chemicals In Honey
"Honey is viewed as a clean natural food, it may not be as pure as we all would like. Bees are infact, seen as a method of sampling and gauging the presence of chemicals in an environment.
Some of these chemicals can be put into the hives by the beekeepers.
- Bee Robber- Butyric acid is used to temporarily drive the bees from the hive during harvesting operations. A fume board with Honey Robber (butyric acid) on cloth on the inside of a fume board drives the bees out. Butyric acid is the acid that gives beer its flavor
- Anti-biotics- Fumidil-B and Terramycin for the Prevention of Diseases such as American Foulbrood, Nosema and European Foulbrood
- Fluvalinate- A pyrethrin based insecticide palced in hives to treat the Varroa Mite, clings to the waxes in a hive. Are the "natural" bees waxes used in medicinal salves free of fluvalinate? "
Someon answereed the question of what chemical's that are in honey on WikiAnswers and they said the chemical makeup of honey was:
Invert sugars 73.31
Sucrose (cane-sugar) 2.63
Dextrin 2.89
Nitrogen substances 1.08
Water 18.96
Ash 0.24
So now we know that even natural items have and are made up of chemicals. Now everyone got a science lesson today! Hahaha!!
Enjoy your day and will be back for the next day's results tomorrow!
Day 10
Day 10
This is why it is so difficult and frustrating. My eyes are once again swelling up and I have pustules starting to form under my skin, yet again. I took this picutre this morning before I even applied anything to it. GRRRRRR. The honey seems to have taken a break and so will I. I will not using anything except the Reversalist today.
Yesterday I went to the Funeral home, for my Uncles viewing, in the city of Cumberland, Md.--which to me is a dirty city because of the coal mines that are or once were around that area. It could be the dirt in the air that has set my face off again. I don't know and it is frustrating to say the least. Today I will be standing out in the hot air for the military funeral and that I know will set it off.
Day 11
Day 11
Well, I don't have anything to add here.
Finished
Since there is no real difference in my Rosacea with this product there is no reason to continue it. I do have the Clearskin coming in my order and should be starting it next weekend. I will be on vacation and away from my computer next week so there wouldn't be anything to post.
Comments
H.P. Roychoudhury, I would rather not have Rosacea at all. It is in my family though and most of those who are Celtic in origin have this condition. I have done the diet thing and all the medical things to no avail. There just has to be some fix for this without drugs. Thanks for stopping by.
Day 2 has been added. What do you think? Is there a difference or am I just wishing...or is it too soon to tell?
I will be watching this hub with interest. I have reddening of the skin, but not enough to class it as rosecea I dont think, and my skin tone is quite uneven. I hope you have some success with this cream, and I think you are very brave putting your photo up on the web. I much prefer being anonymous!
ChloeP, if not this formula they have three others that I will give a try and put those results up too. Thanks for stopping by.
I learned the hard way that the ingredients in a product can help or hurt my skin and rosacea. One "high-end" eye cream caused my skin to become flaming red and my eyes to swell shut!
When I had a major breakout/skin reaction, a dermatologist told me to use the cleanest (most chemical-free) products I could find to help my skin.
I started with organic olive oil as a cleanser (massage it into skin to remove oil and dirt!), then rinsed with warm water and put on a thin layer of organic honey.
The honey kills all kinds of germs and bacteria AND moisturizes, plus it leaves the skin feeling very soft. After rinsing the honey off, I put on a thin layer of olive oil to protect my skin.
This did wonders very quickly. As soon as my skin was back to "normal" I looked for products I could buy that were chemical free. That took reading labels and learning about what's in products.
It seems manufacturers of skincare products can make any claims and use any ingredients because they're not monitored by the USDA or the FDA. Not good.
So, certified organic products are the way to go for me. Using them (plus organic honey as a treat for my face), has left my skin in beautiful condition and the rosacea is no longer a problem.
With so many manufacturers using chemicals in their products, almost any product - cleansers, moisturizers, shampoos, conditioners, hair gels and sunscreens - can be causing breakouts on your face and body.
Here's a page that shows what to look for in organic products as well as ingredients to avoid in skin and hair care products. http://www.best-mens-skin-care.com/organic-skin-ca
To find chemical-free products, read labels and research ingredients - or start with certified organic ingredients which don't contain harmful chemicals.
Mayo
Day 3 added and tonight I will add day 4. Yesterday was a hectic day and sorry for not posting the new report until this morning.
Day 4 has been added but the picture will be added tomorrow.
I just added the picture.
Mayo, for some reason your comment came across as spam. I am sorry it took me this long to get back to that.
Anyway Avon also is bringing out a Fair Trade line of facial products and I will be writing a hub on that as well. Thank you for that site and I will visit it. Thanks for the information too.
Maybe AVON will pick up on this in the future. I think they have with the new line coming out in a few campaigns. We shall see. Come back again to ss more results for this and other things.
Day 6 and halfway through the treatment regimen.
Day 7 posted with results.
Day 8 and an added step in my regimen-- A Honey pre-wash.
Interesting that the cream worked on your crows feet lines, especially after such a short time. I wonder if there are so many chemicals in the Reversalist that it aggravates your sensitive skin rather than helps it? Using olive oil on your skin sounds good. Funnily enough that is the second time this week I've seen that recommendation, so its worth a try.
ChloeP, The product didn't aggravate anyting, it just didn't do anything for the Rosacea. It did what it stated it would do, except lessen my Roscea. That is not surprising at all because nothing has lessened the Rosacea and I mean nothing to this point. I have had this for 30 years. I am about to put up another day and photo to go with it.
Day 9 results and a bit of a Chemistry/Science Lesson.
Day 10 updated.
Neat test info, thanks for sharing. Into Avon, too, for cost effective skin repair, and some of their products are not bad.
charmstotreasure, Thanks for visiting and leaving a nice comment.
Oh and for everyone else too--I know why my eyes are swelled--one of my cats was sleeping right up at my face last night. I am allergic to whatever she brings in from the ground outside. I need to stop this!
Day 11 added. Not much change
I am finished with this treatment as for the treatment for Rosacea. Will be starting a new regimen in a week and will be posting that.
I am 37 and an AVON rep and have a small amount of Rosacea (along cheek bones and across nose) and I use a product of theirs called ANEW Clinical Instant Face Lift and it takes the redness out for me at least temporarily. I also got good results from using the Ultimate Age Repair Elixir. Just wanted to pass my experience along.
Sharlene, All the help is welcome. I am now using the Clearskin cleanser, not the scrub because that would make my face worse. I will write about that experience in a day or two.
I am also looking , check www.madefromearth.com - Rosehips&Hibiscus Facial Serum , $14.00 on sale.
I hope this helps !! Just found it !!
I had multiple health issues until I saw an Iridologist. She put me on a yeast cleanse. This totally cleared my skin, eliminated my allergies (which I have had for 35 years)and done wonders on my intestinal system. Perhaps you should see a naturopath if you can't find an iridologist. Good luck.
Gadgetgirl, Thanks for stopping by and giving help. I don't believe there are any around me and I don't have health insurance.
You are a fighter! Poor Avon if they read your Hub! =/
Did you try Calamine lotion?
irenemaria, Clamine lotions will not work for Rosacea. It is inherited in my family. I have found somethig tht tones down the red though and it is an Avon product but for the hands. It is the Lightening Hand Cream. I just keep foretting to put it on before I go to bed. Thanks for you help though and coming to read my hub.
Have you tried the Zenmed product? http://zenmed.com/skincare/rosacea/
I have not and thanks for the link
As I was reading this, I felt a bit of hope when I saw the second picture and I kept scrolling down to see if it really worked for you. I wish you good luck in finding the remedy to Rosacea.
Kerry, Thanks for reading. I am trying the calming Effect cleanser that Avon has in their MARK product line. No pictures with that since I don't see a difference with that either.

You are lucky that you have found out 'Rosacea' for your skin.
